Fist by FaisalAlahmad Fist by FaisalAlahmad
After getting some practice with miniature fists I decided to make a larger version using some clay Ihad laying around. This is a a sketch I did in a few hours.

*Water-based clay

I pushed myself to figuring out how to express the tension so it was a very helpful sketch in several ways. Thank you!

Amazing work! Being a sketch it's really near a final piece! I like very much how you've worked the volumetry of the hand and fingers, very figurative!

The volumetry was a point I took extra care with! If you notice the bulge next to the pinky finger is a result of the tension. Small things I keep noticing whenever I study the hand--the expressions are endless.

Yes, that bulge it's perfect! :D Human muscles are an infinite world to explore, such details and complex relations between them all in movement!

Thank you so much! Yes, the complexity in its entirety still eludes me. It is a pleasure to try and understand it :D

sorry for not using Deviantart's little 'star' rating system.
their standard of critique is not my standard of critique.

i think you did a GREAT Job of making a believable human fist!

the right side of the hand may be a bit too massive compared to the left? but it does create an exaggerated dynamic as well as add character.

add that's a strength that your artwork has, lot's of character.

the only thing i can see that you might want to focus on for developing this work is the natural waves of wrinkles and creases in the flesh once you develop this enough to detail it.

awesome form! very POWERFUL!

Not a problem--but what's wrong with their standard? I haven't used it myself.

Thanks on all fronts, dude! The right side does look disproportionate, I'm on it! And the details are something I'm especially trying to improve on. I need to use different texture materials. I've heard that using piano wire to make custom tools is the way to go for doing creases and wrinkles. Much appreciated :D

you're very welcome.

deviantart has this crappy star rating system!!!!!

it's like, "let me type what i gotta say DA and keep your stars to yourself" :P

look forward to seeing what you do with it!
